These pipes are just great. I have played them for 2 years now, and I just love them more and more. The look and feel of the AB4 is like nothing else in this price range. Anywhere I play pipers and nonpipers are pleased with the apperance and sound of them. The blackwood is high quality, and the turning is as good as it gets. The bore of the drones and stocks is within the smallest limits, and I just had one accident with a stock that got a crack and had to be replaced. The sound of the drones is lovely, with a great ballance between mellow softnes and penetration. I use a set of Ross cane tongue reeds, and this compination of cane sound and McCallum drones is just down my alley. I have also tried SM90, Ross Omega, Crozie and Ezee drone reeds,- and they all sounded great in these pipes. If you are looking for a set of pipes that are great looking, and with a great sound,- you have to look at the McCallum AB4. Its as simple as that.
